There is not a landline phone, but there there is adequate mobile/cell phone reception.
Why is the difference between Short-Term Rental (STR) and Long-Term Rental (LTR)?
Anything less than 30 days is considered Short-Term Rental (STR). Hood River requires a permit to rent for less than 30 days. We have strived to comply with all county requirements, so StoryBook Glade is pleased to offer both options. If interested in renting more than 30 days, it would be considered a Long-Term rental, and no permit is required.
Sometimes in the morning, I hear a buzzing sound outside. What is that?
Occasionally, the vineyard or orchards will run fans to help dry fruit if there is too much moisture or circulate air if the temperature is too cold.
Is there a fireplace?
Unfortunately there is not a fireplace. Perhaps someday in the future.
Does the house have air conditioning?
The house has portable air conditioners during the summer months; however, they are removed during the rest of the year because the environment stays comfortable due to the plaster walls, insulation, and ventilation. In addition, ceiling fans help circulate air throughout the house and regulate temperature.
When was the home built?
The home was built in 1902, making it one of the oldest homes still standing in Hood River Valley. Originally, there would have been several other homes in the area since the first saw mill was constructed in 1862 just across Highway 35, but almost all the others are gone. At one point, this home needed major restoration, so it was completely renovated by the Turner family over the course of 10 years. It wasn't named StoryBook Glade until 2017.
Some blinds don’t have strings, so how do those blinds work?
Some blinds are cordless, so you just pull them down. They are also top down-bottom up, so the bottom half of the window can be shaded and the top left open.
Are pets allowed?
Only authorized service animals are allowed for people who require them. We do not allow pets due to allergic and maintenance reasons.
